Sit! Stay! And get ready to howl! On Sunday, March 1 at 1:00 PM, Johnny Peers and his Muttville Comix will bring their Canine Comedy Adventure show to The Palace Danbury
The Muttville Comix is a show for the whole family and the dog lover in all of us. The show features dogs rescued from shelters and pounds, including a skateboarding Basset Hound, a ladder climbing Fox Terrier, and a canine conga line!
These personality-plus pooches share the stage with their trainer and all around funny-man, Johnny Peers. Johnny’s comedic training began at an early age. His dad ran a concession stand for the circus, and when Johnny wasn’t helping out there he’d sneak away to hang out with the clowns. He went on to study at the Ringling Brothers Clown College where he specialized in slapstick humor, graduating in 1970.
Johnny got his first pup from a shelter in 1972. She was a sweet Beagle mix named Freckles. When Johnny realized that she learned tricks easily, he decided to incorporate her into his comedy routine. “At the time, I didn’t know anything about training dogs, but she and I worked out a great little act,” Johnny said. In 1980, after Johnny had adopted several more dogs –and better training methods –the Muttville Comix was born.
Since their 1980 debut, the Muttville Comix have appeared on David Letterman, Primetime Live and Circus of the Stars, and at Disneyland, Busch Gardens, the Big Apple Circus, the Royal Hanneford Circus, even The White House!. Here’s your chance to see them up close at The Palace Danbury!
